Business 45: Arena Flowers

Business 45 of my Great Business Tour is Arena Flowers in Park Royal. Arena Flowers is one of the leading online florists in the UK, offering the highest quality flowers. The fantastic co-founder Will Wynne and his management team welcomed me this morning to discuss what more we can do to help businesses start up and grow. We talked about our plans to freeze VAT, and I was generously given a bouquet of flowers as I left.

Business 46: PaperLane

Business 46 of my Great Business Tour is PaperLane at Hampden Park in Eastbourne. PaperLane is a successful newsagents and balloon specialists in the South East of England. I visited with the brilliant Caroline Ansell, PPC for Eastbourne and we discussed transport problems in the area.

Business 47: M-Tech Systems Ltd

Business 47 of my Great Business Tour is M-Tech Systems Ltd in Eastbourne. M-Tech Systems Ltd is a pioneering technology infrastructure provider based in the South East of England. I visited with our superb candidate for Eastbourne Caroline Ansell and heard about internet connectivity, and the main impediments to growth and enterprise in Eastbourne.

Business 48: Custom Pharmaceuticals Ltd

Business 48 of my Great Business Tour is Custom Pharmaceuticals in Hove. Custom Pharmaceuticals make a billion pills a year and are bringing manufacturing back to Brighton.

Business 49: Hainault Fryers Ltd

Business 49 of my Great Business Tour is Hainault Fryers Ltd in Portslade. We discussed the small business rate relief, and heard about how our 10 minute free parking will help their business. I visited with Graham Cox, PPC for Hove and Portslade, and we sampled some top quality Portslade chips.

Business 50: James Ross Jewellers

Business 50 of my Great Business Tour is James Ross Jewellers in Portslade. I met the owner of this family run jewellers and we spoke about the small business rate relief, and the recent announcement of a 10 minute parking grace period before being fined, and how it will help them as a business. I visited with Graham Cox, the Conservative Candidate for Hove and Portslade.

Business 51: Ricardo Media

Business 51 of my Great Business Tour is Ricardo Media in Shoreham. Ricardo Media is a world-leading engineering company and here I signed the £238 million Coast to Capital Growth Deal to create 21,000 jobs and Apprenticeships. The deal brings security for local families and helps the area move towards a brighter future.

Business 52: Defence Solutions Centre

Business 52 of my Great Business Tour is Defence Solutions Centre based at QinetiQ in Farnborough. I was delighted to open the new Government-backed Defence Solutions Centre, which will develop technologies for the global defence market. The opening of the UK Centre is great news for the defence industry in the UK, and is an excellent example of our long term plan to back business, helping key sectors to grow and securing jobs for the future.

Business 53: Crossrail

Business 53 of my Great Business Tour is Crossrail in London. Crossrail is the new high frequency, high capacity railway for London and the South East, and Europe’s biggest construction project. Terry Morgan- former Apprentice and now Chairman of Crossrail- showed me the very impressive engineering work on this project. This development will provide a step change in public transport for local people.

Business 54: ShP Ltd

Business 54 of my Great Business Tour is ShP Ltd in Morecambe. ShP is a leading electronics recycling company and we spoke about the impact regulations have on the electronics industry. This is exactly why we want to cut red tape even further, making it easier for businesses to expand and grow.
