In April 2022, a family of Ukrainian refugees arrived in West Suffolk, with only the clothes on their backs, having fled their home, following Putin's illegal and barbaric war.
Like thousands of other Brits up and down the country, Matt opened his home to the family.
In just under 11-months, Matt's proud to say the family has been able to begin rebuilding their lives in Suffolk - finding jobs, a school for 5-year-old Mariana and this week a new home to settle in, that they can call their own. Oleg, Mariana’s father and a well known Ukrainian artist, has joined his family, and Matt has helped organise an exhibition in London’s Mayfair next week.
It's been an incredibly humbling experience and one Matt will never forget. He thanks Iryna and her family for teaching him so much about their culture. And he also thanks the hundreds of families in Suffolk and thousands more across the country, who have so generously opened their homes.
