On Friday 6th June Matthew Hancock MP visited Evogreen in Newmarket. Evogreen was set up to provide sustainable energy solutions for educational establishments, local-authorities and commercial businesses in all sectors across the UK. More good news for employment in West Suffolk

Unemployment in West Suffolk has fallen by a further 38% since April last year. All areas of West Suffolk are benefiting from our long term economic plan. In Mildenhall, unemployment has fallen by 42% since April 2013. In Newmarket, it has fallen by 39%. Brandon has seen a 43% fall in unemployment and Haverhill a 38% drop since last year.

A Safer Suffolk

I am very pleased that crime has fallen once again over the last twelve months in West Suffolk. Since June 2010 we have seen a 19% reduction in overall recorded crime.

Haverhalf – Complete!

I am both relived and sad that the Haverhalf is over. Having had a busy few months as Haverhill's MP in the run up to the race, I didn’t fit in quite as much training as I would have liked to. I was, therefore, very nervous about getting round the 13 and a bit miles in one piece.

The new A11 bypass set to open on Monday 28th April

It is fantastic news that the new A11 – needed for so long – will now be opening in the early hours of Monday morning. I met with Richard Turnball today, the Project Director at Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK who told me of the great progress they have been making.

Preparations underway for the HaverHalf

When Haverhill decided to host its first ever half marathon I thought it only right, as the local MP, to sign up to it myself. Now only 4 weeks away it’s certainly crept up on me.

Leading the way for local authorities: The Mildenhall Hub

It is fantastic news that extra funding has now been made available for the creation of the Mildenhall Hub. I look forward to seeing great transformations in the services in the local area. The ambitious Mildenhall Hub project aims to bring together a variety of community services in one place. The planned site is the former Riverside Middle school in Sheldrick way.

A bright future for Racing

Since my election as the MP for West Suffolk I have fought tirelessly for a fair deal for Horse Racing and to close an offshore loophole that has allowed large bookmakers to avoid tax, UK consumer regulations and the Levy payments that support Racing. In Newmarket, the international home of the sport, 5,000 of my constituents have jobs linked to the industry.

IES Breckland Free School eligible for Tablets-4-Teachers

Having campaigned for years to keep our school in Brandon the Ofsted report is clearly disappointing, but I am glad that IES Breckland has already taken steps to address points raised in Ofsted’s report and it is important that the school has acknowledged that it needs to improve.
